Let&rsquo;s Connect, Quesnel!The City of Quesnel is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for the public to participate in shaping decisions. Let&rsquo;s Connect is an online community engagement space. It will include project plans and updates, enable interaction and feedback, and send you notifications when you sign up. Shape projects that impact you by registering and contributing ideas and questions. We will listen, take feedback into account, and report back on how community input contributes to City projects.

Each year we conduct public engagement to get input from residents and businesses to guide the development of the draft annual budget.All public input on the budget helps to inform City Council&rsquo;s deliberation of the draft budget, leading to the approval of a final budget for the upcoming year.You can share your ideas and ask questions about the City&rsquo;s budget using the tools below. You can also send your ideas and questions to <a href="mailto:budget@quesnel.ca">budget@quesnel.ca</a>.<hr><h1>Budget Process</h1>The budget process allows the City of Quesnel to make resource allocation decisions, including choices about staffing, service levels, and which priorities will be addressed in the coming fiscal year. Council&#39;s priorities are set out in its <a href="https://www.quesnel.ca/sites/default/files/uploads/reports/2023-strategic-plan.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Strategic Plan</a>. <h2>Accessibility Advisory Committee</h2>In 2023, the Accessibility Committee was established to provide advice to Council to ensure that buildings, sites, and facilities are safely accessible, and that the community is inclusive, supportive, and safely accessible and accommodating.The City of Quesnel is committed to making itself a more inclusive community. The committee is working to create an Accessibility Plan to identify ways to better communicate accessibility within the community. This plan will be shared on this page when it is complete.<img src="https://s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com/ehq-production-canada/4e3b97d19e2db1fa3fd51a1f286eeb30ee0aa27a/original/1714684704/8621384452a8aba2ad07732ad415f9f2_People.png?1714684704" style="width: 754px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib"><h3>About the Accessibility Committee:</h3>The Accessibility Committee is a Select Committee of Council and its purpose is to ensure that the following goals from our Quesnel community occur:<ul><li>Buildings, sites, and facilities are to be safely accessible.</li><li>The community is inclusive and supportive and is safely accessible and accommodating.</li></ul><h3>Specific roles of the Committee shall include:</h3><ul><li>Review and make recommendations to Council and staff regarding accessibility issues related to community transportation, buildings, and functions:<ol><li>Support Council and Staff in the development of a prioritized 5-year capital plan for accessibility improvements to sidewalks, trails, parking, and roads.</li><li>Review accessibility plans of new city and community developments.</li><li>Review and make recommendations to Council regarding accessibility improvements related to existing community-owned infrastructure and programs.</li></ol></li><li>Review, make recommendations, and provide leadership for other projects and initiatives to improve accessibility in the community of Quesnel:<ol><li>Accessible parking awareness programs.</li><li>Work with merchants, Business Improvement Areas, and the Chamber of Commerce to improve accessibility and promote accessibility awareness.</li><li>Accessible-friendly projects.</li></ol></li><li>Help develop an Accessibility Action Plan that is accessible to community members and that outlines the activities the organization plans to do to identify, remove, and prevent barriers.<ol><li>Monitor and report progress and achievement of actions identified in the City&rsquo;s Accessibility Plan.</li><li>Review and update plan every 3 years.</li></ol></li><li>Develop partnerships and liaise with Province and Accessibility agencies to improve accessibility outcomes for Quesnel:<ol><li>Review and build on new Provincial initiatives.</li><li>Review and build on previous Provincial and Northern initiatives (such as Measuring Up the North)</li></ol></li></ul>An Accessibility Committee is mandatory of the Accessible British Columbia Act in which organizations must establish an Accessibility Committee, and develop an accessibility plan and a process for receiving public feedback.This Committee is under Part 3 of the <a href="https://www.chilliwack.com/main/link.cfm?id=3214" target="_blank">Accessible BC Act</a>.<hr><h2>Contact us:</h2>We welcome you to share your thoughts on how the City of Quesnel can improve accessibility.You&#39;re invited to contact the Accessibility Committee at <a href="https://www.quesnel.ca/contact-city-hall" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.quesnel.ca/contact-city-hall</a>.
